Found a great post from Dave McClure. He is a VC in Silicon Valley, and does some great work... some people think he is a Super Angel....
Here is his post on the next Facebook, or more specifically what the next social network needs to focus on.
It is a great piece from someone who knows.
I like it, because it reminds me that my grandchildren...(I don't have any yet!) WILL NOT use Facebook. Hell, my kids might not even use it in 10 years.
FACEBOOK IS INHERENTLY TRANSIENT. Like most things "early web". AOL, Yahoo, Netscape anyone..?
Just like my email inbox...Facebook is getting overloaded.... so begins my quest for the thing that actually delivers on my need for "intimacy" with my best mates and/or helps me be "very public" with what I am doing with..more likely.. work related stuff.
It is not here, yet.
It will come, probably soon..... but that, whatever it is... will also be TRANSIENT.
This thing is moving fast. Deal with it. The days of knowing what was really going on are over. Forever.
