Here is a post talking about a recent speech given by Jim Whitehurst (CEO of Red Hat) on the broken model that is traditional software vendors.
I thought his question is right on the money....

There is an excellent book "The Big Switch" that covers this same topic... and talks about the "IT Arms Race". The only people that are making money out of this are the mega vendors.. the clients aren't getting anywhere near the value they should be for the multi-billions of dollars they are paying out.
The model has to change...the question is when......?
